In 1978,
Abner started recording a solo acoustic album, based on what he had learned
from Buck Ramsey.
The album was to be titled Old McDonald. The cover would have a photo of the
McDonald Observatory. Buck and Abner had spent a lot of time in the area around
the Davis Mountains. Abner was in a car accident while on the way to a session
for this album. Old McDonald was not finished until the spring of 1979. Along
with Buck Ramsey's Bed of Roses, it included The
Bluebird, music by Abner Burnett; lyrics by Herman Melville. This
is a photo taken during one of the early sessions. The music is still available
on Abner Burnett 1975-1979. |
